Acupuncture for High Blood Pressure

Acupuncture for High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure makes the heart work harder, increasing its oxygen demands and contributing to angina. This excessive pressure can lead to an enlarged heart (cardiomegaly), as well as damage to blood vessels in the kidneys and brain. It increases the risk of heart attacks, stroke and kidney disease.

How does acupuncture work for High Blood Pressure?

Acupuncture has been found to be particularly helpful in lowering blood pressure. By applying acupuncture needles at specific sites of meridians which locate over nerve pathways it sends impulses to the brain to regulate brain chemicals and the cardiovascular system. This, in turn, lower blood pressure. Acupuncture also treats other complicating diseases related blood pressure.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
