Acupuncture for Difficulty Speaking Aphasia

Acupuncture for Difficulty Speaking (Aphasia)

Aphasia (difficulty speaking) is a communication disorder that results from damage or injury to language parts of the brain. It’s more common in older adults, but may cause by stroke; brain injury; brain tumor; or dementia; other neurological disorder, or it is a symptom of epilepsy (seizures).
People who have aphasia may have difficulty speaking and finding the “right” words to complete their thoughts. They may also have problems understanding conversation, reading and comprehending written words, writing words, and using numbers. Dr. Shan Kong has treated a lot aphasia patient with high success rates.

How does acupuncture work for difficulty speaking?

Acupuncture causes an increase in local blood flow with a resulting increase in nutrients and immune cells. These are the ingredients for healing. There is also evidence that acupuncture tends to have a balancing effect on brain chemistry, hormone levels, and immune cell function and have a beneficial effect on the healing of the brain and /or nerves after injuries or stroke. Because the brain controls everything in the body, a balanced brain allows for more effective healing in difficulty speaking (Aphasia). Acupuncture can help treating the causes too.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
