Acupuncture for Skin Problems

Skin problems include shingles, eczema, hives, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, boils, cold sores, warts, gangrene, cysts and skin lumps, bug bites, intertrigo, poison ivy; Fungal infections of the skin include athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and yeast infections (candida), sporotrichosis, fungal nail infection etc.

How does acupuncture work for Skin Problems

Acupuncture of Chinese medicine believes that the main cause of skin diseases is the accumulation of too many toxins in the body, leading to liver (detoxification), kidney (release poison) unbearable load. The sources of toxins from inside human body are too much pathological products like moisture, heat, phlegm and the environmental pathogenic factors like too much wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness, dryness or fire and other epidemic factors .

Acupuncture strengthens people's immune and energy, enhances the liver and kidney detoxification function and metabolism capability to promote the elimination of toxins in the body through the path of perspiration, dieresis, defecation etc. Acupuncture also increases blood flow to the skin involved area to improve the function of skin and speed up healing.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
