Acupuncture for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common health problem caused by an imbalance of reproductive hormones. With PCOS, the egg may not develop as it should or it may not be released during ovulation as it should be. PCOS can cause missed or irregular menstrual periods lead to: infertility, development of cysts in the ovaries etc.

How does acupuncture work for PCOS

Acupuncture stimulates brain chemistry to increase the function of pituitary and ovaries and balance reproductive hormones to produce better quality eggs; regulate menstrual cycle; control cysts growing and reduce or get rid of cysts in the ovaries. Since Dr. Shan Kong’s specialty is in treating gynecology diseases and helping PCOS patients with infertility to obtain pregnant with pretty high success rate. Also Dr. Shan Kong identifies and treats potential disease and other symptoms patients may have, such as: pelvic pain, weight gain, acne, stress, depression or anxiety etc.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
