Acupuncture for Acne

Acne is a skin problem that starts when oil and dead skin cells clog up your pores. Some people call it blackheads, blemishes, whiteheads, pimples, or zits. If germs get into the pores, the result can be swelling, redness, and pus. Pimples that are large and deep are called cystic lesions. These can be painful if they get infected. They also can scar the skin.

How does acupuncture work for Acne?

Acupuncture is effective for acne which is verified by World Health Organization (WHO). Acupuncture can help acne in a few ways. First, it can improve blood flow to area that are involved and increase delivery of nutrients to strengthen the skin tone. Second, acupuncture improves the function of immune cells to resolve the inflammation that causes welling, redness and pus, which not only reduce or get rid of acne faster, but also prevent from cystic lesions that may lead to scar of skin. Third, acupuncture helps to reduce a person's reactivity to the allergen which it may aggravate acne.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
