Acupuncture for Alopecia Areata

Acupuncture for Alopecia Areata

Alopecia Areata is an auto-immune disorder, where a patient’s immune system misidentifies one’s own hair follicles and attacks them, causing hair loss.

How does acupuncture work for Alopecia Areata?

Acupuncture alters immune response to the scalp and hair follicles to repair damaged tissue, and create new hair follicles by stimulating stem cells in the hair follicle and the living layers of the scalp. Acupuncture also promotes regenerative function and regrows hair and prevents more hair loss.

Course of treatment

There are 10-15 acupuncture sessions in one course of treatment. Treatment frequency depends on individual condition. Chinese herbs work synergistically with acupuncture.
